About us.

Extruder Services founder, John R W Morgan, is a production engineer trained at Southampton Technical College with over twenty years maintenance experience gained mainly in the plastics industry.

His career started as a tool-setter/maintenance fitter at Geeco plastics in New Milton. From here he followed the M.D. (Tom Little) and Chief Engineer to help start CNC Precision, a branch of C.K. Consultants concerned with the refurbishment of plastics processing machinery and heavily involved with development of plastic-wood (now Highwood) at their 'secret' plant on the Isle of Wight.

After approximately five years he moved to Pitt Enterprises, later to become JBL Feedscrews, where he first hit upon the realisation that bi-metallic extruder barrels could be refurbished in place.                                 "In conjunction with Zedcor in Witney we'd developed a process where I would hone their extruders on site with a 'Gut-buster' to basically machine the un-worn areas out (At the front of the barrel and either side of the maddox mixer) and parallel the barrel up as much as possible, up to the vent on the reclaim lines and as far as possible (or necessary) on the production machines. The spare screw would be ready for it's final grind to size on receipt of my phone call"

After 5 years he moved on to work directly for Zedcor (Now absorbed into BPI Recycled Products) for several years before taking some time out of the industry to help a friend start a small classic car restoration business in rural Oxfordshire.

In 2001 John moved to Leicestershire and worked in several different industries (J B Thorne, Environmental Engineers; LPC Group, Tissue Paper manufacturers and Converters; Failsafe Metering, Two-component adhesive metering technology) while also studying AutoCAD to 3D level. This has brought his knowledge of technology up to date and introduced him to a wide variety of different manufacturing methods.

Extruder Services was founded in 2007 with much of the year spent finishing the design and build of the prototype Mobile Honing Machine. From early 2008 we have been heavily involved with the development of an agricultural film recycling line for BPI Recycled Products division, as well as various smaller projects for companies throughout the UK and Ireland. We are also building strong working relationships with specialists in all fields to alow us to offer as complete and cost effective a service as is possible.

In late 2008 we took on premises in Leicester where we are carrying out bespoke machine refurbishments, emergency repairs and developing several projects.
